Homework will consist of Reading and Spelling, with occasional projects.
Typically, it will be assigned on Monday and due by Friday.
Homework is an extension of the learning we do in class. Whenever possible, the kids should be practicing their addition and subtraction facts for mastery, as well as counting coins and telling time to the hour, half-hour and 5 minute intervals.
Spelling will be used to practice patterns along with rules, not memorizing words. Knowing the patterns will allow for a better understanding of how words are put together. Spelling lists are based on beginning of the year assessments and are unique to each student's current ability.

- Students will study all 10 words, including the two "Red Words", #11 & #12. Red Words are "nasty non-rule followers", or words that look like they follow the pattern but don't, or vise versa. They will be asked to spell all 12 words on Fridays.
