Economics: Students should continue working on their businesses in order to be ready for our Lyle Mall Grand Opening on Monday, May 20th around 10:30 am. Students will sell their good or service to Mrs. Harlow's first grade class and to their classmates. They should be prepared to sell 40 goods or have materials for 40 students if they are providing a service.
NO More Spelling: Spelling has finished for the year. There will be no more spelling lists or tests this year.
Dates to Wear Second Grade T-shirt: Students should wear their maroon grade level t-shirts on May 17th and on the LAST day of school May 23rd.
Second Grade Choir Performance: Friday, May 17th at 2:00 pm. All students should wear their maroon second grade t-shirt to school on this day. All parents and family members are invited to attend this performance.
Last Day of School: Thursday, May 23rd. Our party will be after recess, from 1:45-2:30 pm. We will have stations to rotate through. The ocean themed cupcake picture above is what students will create at one station. See the button below to sign up for the party. Students should wear their maroon class t-shirt on this day and bring a Sharpie if they would like their friends to sign their shirt. If students purchased a yearbook, be sure to send that in on this day as well. See the letter below for a more detailed look at our last week of school.
Dear Parents,
As we get closer and closer to the final days of 2nd grade, I want to let you know about some exciting events we have going on in our classroom.
Monday, May 20 – Student Stores
Students will bring all products and supplies needed for their store.
Tuesday, May 21–Game Day
We will be having Game Day. Students will have time to share their favorite board games with their friends during the day. One game per child please. Basically anything that is not electronic (Gameboy, PSP, DS etc.) is fine with me. Please remember that anything with a lot of pieces is hard for them to keep up with. Make sure it’s not an expensive game!
Wednesday, May 22 - Cleaning Out Desks
We will be cleaning the room in preparation for the end of the year. Please send a sturdy sack (one with handles is helpful) for your students to bring their stuff home in.
Thursday, May 23 -Party Day
Here’s our schedule for the day:
7:40 – 8:40 Morning Time with teacher
8:40 – 9:30 Specials
10:00 – 10:45 Autograph Signing (all of 2nd grade in the hallway) (If you’d like, your child can wear their class shirts and have friends sign their name only with a black sharpie. You’ll need to send a sharpie with your child for autographs in this case.) Each student in our class will be provided with an autograph book to use as well. Yearbooks are welcome!
10:50 – 11:30 Clean It Up
11:35 – 12:05 Lunch
12:10 – 1:05 Wrap-Up
1:05 – 1:35 Recess
1:45 – 2:30 End of Year Party **Check the Signup Genius List for items to donate**
We would LOVE for you to stop by and help out during our party time. Hope you can make it!
Sincerely,
Second Grade Teachers
Let's Color That Hair! Reading Growth Challenge: The kids have been making good progress towards our challenge. Please continue to read with them so that by the end of the year, if they have all made a year's worth of reading growth, I can dye my hair whatever color they chose as a class!
